Head to the Library and Beyond this Winter!
December 18, 2023
The Lackawanna County Library System will present an all-ages Winter Challenge beginning on January 16, 2024 and ending on February 24, 2024. Patrons are invited to complete space-themed activities and attend library programs during this year’s challenge, entitled “To the Library and Beyond.” The Winter Challenge is a collaborative effort among librarians from all 10 Lackawanna County libraries. Our librarians invite patrons to embark on literary journeys, rediscover beloved classics, delve into entertaining activities, and venture into new hobbies—all as they set a course to the Library and Beyond, where the wonders of space await.
Patrons are invited to register online using Beanstack to log their reading and activities during the challenge. This mobile and web app will have challenges for children, teens, and adults. Beanstack rewards users with virtual badges for each activity they complete. Lackawanna County Library System locations will have paper activity logs available in-house as well. Whether you participate in the Winter Challenge online or in-person at your Library, completing activities will allow you entry into raffles for prizes. Check with your local library for details on how to enter their drawing. Beanstack challenges for all ages are now available for preregistration.
In addition to our virtual offerings, Lackwanna County libraries will bring outer space to life through in-person activities and events. Expect a range of programs, including story times, crafts, film screenings, STEM activities, and other space-themed events suitable for audiences of all ages. More information about these events can be found by visiting the Library System’s events directory.
