“We were the people who were not in the papers. We lived in the blank white spaces at the edges of print. It gave us more freedom. We lived in the gaps between the stories.”   -Margaret Atwood  “The Handmaid’s Tale”

Join Scranton Reads as we explore Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel,  The Handmaid’s Tale.  In the spirit of the tape recordings that, in the story, became the handmaid’s tale,  artists of all visual mediums were welcome to create pieces of art inspired by the book on used cassette tapes.

The art pieces will be on display at  The Leonard  Theater on Friday,  October 7th from 6 to 8 pm and the Penn State Worthington Scranton Campus from October 14th to October 31st.

Free tapes are available at the Albright Memorial Library.
