Apply for a Library Card

(PA Residents only)

Congratulations! This is the first step in becoming a member of the Lackawanna County Library System! Please read the following guidelines below before proceeding. Thank you!

  1. Within five to seven business days of your application being processed, you will receive your library card in the mail.
  2. Report a lost or stolen card immediately, as you are responsible for all charges and bills associated with the account.
  3. If you have any questions please call (570) 348-3000 x3000.
  4. Note: Completing this form requires a valid email address. If you do not have an email address, please apply for a library card by visiting any LCLS location.

Advantages of Your Library Card

How To Register for a Library Card
You can now Apply for a Library Card online! Simply follow the instructions provided. You can also apply for a library card in person —

  1. Visit your nearest LCLS Location.
  2. Children and adults can register.
  3. Proper ID is required in order to verify your name and current address.
  4. New patrons are allowed one piece of material (until your card arrives).
  5. Library cards will be mailed.
  6. You may not use anyone’s card but your own.
  7. Report any change of address.

If Your Library Card is Lost

  1. Please visit your nearest LCLS location.
  2. Proper ID is required in order to verify your name and current address.
  3. Replacement cost is $2.00.
  4. Your card will be mailed to you if your address has changed.

How To Renew Your Library Card

At a library:

  1. Present your card at your nearest LCLS location.
  2. If you no longer have your card, proper ID is required (name and current address).

Online:

  1. Visit https://lclshome.org/renew-your-library-card/ to complete the request.
  2. You will need your library card and an email address.

If You Forget Your Library Card

  1. Proper ID is required in order to verify your name and current address.
  2. Sign for your card number.
  3. Some libraries may charge a fee to look up your account.
