Winners Will Be Named in January

Books nominated for the 2020 Andrew Carnegie Medal for Fiction and Non-Fiction have been announced by the American Library Association.

The 24 fiction and 25 non-fiction books nominated include many of the most popular books published in the past year. Six finalists will be named on November 4, and the winners announced at the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia on January 26.

Fiction nominees include past Lackawanna County Library System speakers Salman Rushdie (Quichotte) and Colson Whitehead (The Nickel Boys). Douglas Brinkley (John F. Kennedy and the Great American Space Race), another Library System speaker, is one of the non-fiction nominees.

The prestigious award was established by the Carnegie Foundation of New York and is administered by the ALA. Cosponsors are BookList and Reference and User Services Association.
