Pre-Code Film Series Continues Thursday, April 16th at 7 PM with “Penthouse” Starring Myrna Loy

Albright Memorial Library continues its Pre-Code Classic Film Series on Thursday, April 16th at 7 PM with the 1933’s Penthouse starring Warner Baxter and Myrna Loy.
Call girl Gertie Waxted (Myrna Loy) knows how a notorious gangster Jim Crelliman runs his rackets, because she’s long been under the hoodlum’s thumb. No more. She’s secretly helping lawyer Jackson Durant (Warner Baxter) in a snoop job aimed at pinning a murder on the thug. Her life will be in peril when that secret gets out. And there’s something else that won’t stay hush-hush: Gertie and Jackson are falling in love.
Early birds will be treated to classic Looney Tunes shorts starting at 6:30 PM.
The Classic Pre-Code film series is being sponsored by The Friends of Scranton Public Library, who are also generously providing refreshments.
All screenings in the Pre-Code Classic Film Series are free with your library card, but seating is limited and registration is strongly suggested.
