April 27, 2015
Albright Memorial Library will conclude its month-long weekly Pre-Code Classic Film Series on Thursday, April 30th at 7 PM with the 1933 musical comedy Footlight Parade, starring James Cagney, Joan Blondell, Ruby Keeler and Dick Powell.
Producer Chester Kent (James Cagney) struggles against time, romance, and a rival’s spy to produce spectacular live “prologues” for movie houses (directed and choreographed by Busby Berkeley).
Early birds will be treated to classic Looney Tunes shorts starting at 6:30 PM.
As an extra bonus, the 15-minute short film Daydreams of a Scarface Addict, directed by Scranton’s own Morris Mertz, will screen at 6:45 PM.
The Classic Pre-Code film series is being sponsored by The Friends of Scranton Public Library, who are also generously providing refreshments.
All screenings in the Pre-Code Classic Film Series are free with your library card, but seating is limited and registration is strongly suggested.
