Calling all Artists!

Join Scranton Reads as we explore Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel, The Handmaid’s Tale. In the spirit of the tape recordings that, in the story, became the handmaid’s tale, artists of all visual mediums were welcome to create pieces of art inspired by the book on used cassette tapes.
The art pieces will be on display at The Leonard Theater on Friday, October 7th from 6 to 8 pm and the Penn State Worthington Scranton Campus from October 14th to October 31st.
Free tapes are available at the Albright Memorial Library.
Guidelines:
- All artwork must be original to the artist who is submitting.
- All artwork must be a visual transformation of the provided cassette tape. No audio medium will be accepted. Tapes are available at the Albright Memorial Library.
- Make sure to indicate the top of your piece.
- All artwork should reflect the subjects or themes of The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.
- Pieces will be displayed at The Leonard Theater on Friday, October 7 and from October 14th– 31st at Penn State Worthington Scranton Campus in Dunmore.
- Please submit all entries to the Albright Memorial Library no later than October 1, 2016.
- Pieces will not be sold and will be available for pick up at the Albright Memorial Library from November 7 to December 1st. Any pieces not claimed after December 1, 2016 will become property of the Scranton Public Library.
