It’s National Library Week!

It’s National Library Week!

April 20, 2020

Still Cause for Celebration

National Library Week 2020 will be celebrated without the usual fanfare, yet libraries across the country, shuttered to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, are proving their worth without opening their doors.

“We don’t yet know when our libraries might reopen, or what things will look like when that day arrives,” said Mary Garm, director of the Lackawanna County Library System.

“Despite all this, the libraries of Lackawanna County are meeting our mission: Connecting people with resources to enlighten, encourage, enable, enrich, and entertain.”

The Lackawanna County Library System’s embrace of 21st century technology through its virtual library , www.lclshome.org, means that a Library Card today gives patrons access to the world while they remain safely at home.

“Find your place at the library,” the theme for National Library Week chosen months before the the global pandemic forced libraries to close, is still valid. With swipes and clicks your place is still open at the Library!
