January Renovation Update: Almost Ready!
January 17, 2018
We are almost ready to open our doors at the Albright Memorial Library. We can’t wait to unveil the library for all of you to see the interior renovations in person.
Until then, here is an update with pictures on the progress made so far since we last posted.
- The public restrooms are being retiled from ceiling to floor with new countertops as well.
- Shelving was moved from the Circulation Area so that new flooring can be installed. Once the new carpet is down, a new circulation desk will replace the one we have currently. The Circulation Area also received a fresh coat of paint.
- Upstairs in our Reference Area, new flooring replaced old carpet by the reference desk. Shelves which were not original to the library were taken down by the desk area to give more room. Printers will be moved to this area to provide a quieter experience for patrons when they are on computers or reading in the main Barrel Vault room.
- The other side of Reference, which you may remember held computers, will go back to what it was originally intended for – a Lecture Hall. This room will be used for meeting spaces, library events, and more.
We know it has been a long journey, but we’d like to take a moment to thank all our patrons for your continued support and patience as we upgrade the library. The interior renovations will help sustain the physical library building so it may serve our community for another 125 years!
Thank you!
