Books by Mail

Providing service to the residents of Lackawanna County

WHAT IS BOOKS BY MAIL?

The Books by Mail program is a FREE service which provides library materials for those who have a disability preventing them from visiting the library.

WHAT CAN YOU RECEIVE?

You can get books (regular print or large print), audio books, DVDs, blu-rays, and music on CD.

HOW LONG CAN I KEEP MY ITEMS?

All items have a 4-week loan period with possible renewals.

HOW WILL I RECEIVE MY ITEMS?

Library materials will be mailed FREE of charge in a nylon bag.

HOW DO I RETURN MY ITEMS?

The nylon bag can be left out for your mail carrier or dropped off at any US Post Office.  Simply cut the zip ties, flip the address card over and replace the ties (provided in the bag).

CAN I RESERVE ITEMS?

Yes, you can place your own holds or call the library to reserve titles.  If you don’t want to reserve your own holds, no worries, your preference form will help us select items for you.

HOW DO I GET LIBRARY MATERIALS DELIVERED TO MY HOME IF I DON’T QUALIFY FOR BOOKS BY MAIL?

We offer Home Delivery.  When you or library staff are requesting materials for you, you can opt to have your materials mailed directly to you by selecting the pick-up location of “Home Delivery.”  See our Home Delivery Service page for more information.
