The area’s most popular local attractions have joined with he Lackawanna County Library System for a series of programs designed especially for those who articipate in the Summer Reading Programs.

You have a passport to fun, knowledge, and exploration right in your own backyard. Here are programs that you can get out and enjoy this summer.

Children’s Day at the Catlin House

Saturday, July 12 • Noon to 3 P.M.

Lackawanna Historical Society

Hands on activities, arts & crafts and tours of the Lackawanna County Historical Society treasures.

From the Coal Age to Dinosaurs

Wednesday, July 23 • 10 A.M.

Pennsylvania Anthracite Heritage Museum

McDade Park, Scranton

Learn about the transformation of the earth under our feet. It’s a program of art and science with sculptor Gene Moyer.

Flight

Wednesday, August 6 • 11 A.M.

Scranton Cultural Center

420 North Washington Avenue, Scranton

Learn about the history of flight featuring traveling scientists from Philadelphia’s Franklin Institute. See mechanical birds, hot air balloons, gliders, and even a rocket launch demonstrate the forces of flight.

Shark Community Day

Saturday, August 16 • 1 to 4 P.M.

Everhart Museum

Nay Aug Park, Scranton

Arts and science activity throughout the Museum plus a special exhibit about sharks, their importance in nature and their grip on people’s imaginations.

ARTS Engage! Day

Thursday, August 28 • 10 A.M. to Noon

Electric City Trolley Museum and Station

A great way to wrap up summer: Free arts activities and discount trolley rides at the always fun Trolley Museum. Hands on and interactive fun.
