Railriders Initiative Joins Summer Reading Incentives

Baseball Team Sponsors “Reading Railroad”
Summer Reading Participants Eligible
When they register for Summer Reading, children will also join a new library-based reading program sponsored by the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders called “Reading Railroad.” It’s a program that encourages kids to read library books by offering a free ticket to a baseball game as a reward.
Each participant will receive a special bookmark with space on the back to keep track of what they read. Each time they return a borrowed book to the library, the librarian will check a box on the back of the bookmark. When they reach five check marks, they can turn the bookmark in at the RailRiders box office at PNC Field for a ticket to a baseball game on Library Night, Wednesday, August 12.
Library Night is also “Kids Eat Free Night” at the RailRiders, so it will be a great time to take the whole family out to see a ball game.
