“Stars From Scranton” Film Series Wednesday Nights in August at Scranton Public Library

Wednesday nights in August, Scranton Public Library will be presenting a weekly classic film series featuring “Stars From Scranton”. These five classic films from the Golden Age of Hollywood feature actors who were from Scranton, Pennsylvania–legends such as Lizabeth Scott, Gloria Jean and Allan Jones.
All screenings are free with a library card and will be held in the Henkelman Room* (second floor of Scranton Public Library), which is handicapped accessible.
Scheduled films and screening times are:
DOUBLE FEATURE:
6 PM – 1937’s Sea Racketeers (54 min.), starring Scranton native Jeanne Madden
7 PM – 1952’s Stolen Face (1 hr, 12 min.) starring Scranton native Lizabeth Scott
6:30 PM – 1921’s Dream Street (1 hr, 42 min.) starring Scranton native Charles Emmett Mack
Monday, August 19th (SPECIAL NIGHT)
6:30 PM – 1958’s Hot Car Girl (1 hr., 11 min.) starring Scranton native Grace Gillern (Albertson)
7 PM – 1939’s The Under-Pup (1 hr, 28 min.) starring Scranton native Gloria Jean
7 PM – 1935’s A Night at the Opera (1 hr, 36 min.) starring Scranton native Allan Jones
Early birds will be treated to vintage entertainment starting 30 minutes prior to the scheduled screen time of each film.
Refreshments will be generously provided by The Friends of Scranton Public Library.
